When I meet people, I don’t introduce myself by saying, “Hi, I’m living with HIV.”
That’s not the first thing I want anyone to know about me. I’m many things creative, funny, passionate, sexy, innovative ,self driven etc .
HIV is just one part of my health, not my whole identity.
We all have different ways of sharing our journeys, and that’s okay. Speaking up can help others. But I’ve also seen how some people feel pressured to lead with their status in order to be accepted, supported, or simply heard. I don’t believe anyone should have to do that.
For me, living with HIV has taught me resilience. It hasn’t made me less ,it’s made me stronger. I don’t want pity. I want progress. I want to be known for my ideas, my actions, and my impact. HIV doesn’t stop me from dreaming, growing, or achieving. But that confidence had to start with me. I had to understand that I’m enough not in spite of my status, but because I’ve learned to live fully with it.
Let’s change the narrative. Let’s show the world that people living with HIV are strong, capable, and deserving just like anyone else.
Living with HIV is not who you are; it’s just something you manage. It shouldn’t define your entire identity.
You’re more than a diagnosis.
You’re a person with dreams, talents, and a future.
